The painting is in good condition with signs of aging and use. This impressive work depicts one of the most moving moments in Christian iconography: the moment when Christ’s body, after the crucifixion, is taken down from the cross with great care and reverence. It is a carefully constructed composition with numerous figures, each with its own posture and emotional expression. In the center is the body of Christ. On the right in the foreground stands the grieving Mary, draped in her characteristic blue mantle. The color use is particularly beautiful, with warm earth tones, deep red nuances, and bright blue accents. The monumental cloudscape and the subtle landscape background give the scene notable depth and reinforce the solemn, contemplative atmosphere.
