SPECTACULAR NATURAL AFGHAN NATURAL PERIDOT PENDANT WITH SILVER SETTING Magnificent pendant crafted with natural peridot from Afghanistan, set in an elegant silver setting that enhances the beauty and luminosity of this extraordinary gem. The stone presents a fascinating intense olive green color, with delicate golden and yellowish reflections, characteristic of high-quality peridot. Its extraordinary transparency and its ability to capture and reflect light make this jewel highly attractive, both for mineral collectors and for lovers of natural and exclusive jewelry. Origin and provenance This mineral comes from Afghanistan, a country internationally recognized for the extraordinary wealth and diversity of its gemstone deposits. Among the areas best known for its peridot deposits is Nuristan province, located in northeastern Afghanistan, in the Hindu Kush mountains, a region of spectacular landscapes and great mineralogical tradition. These mountains host important geological formations where some of the most prized gems of Central Asia are found. A gem born deep in the Earth Peridot is the gemological variety of the mineral olivine, whose formation is linked to geological processes occurring at great depths in the mantle. One of its most remarkable features is that its green hue is completely natural, originated by the iron present in its chemical composition. Unlike other gemstones, which can display a wide variety of colors, peridot is distinguished by its different shades of green, from bright lime green to deep olive green. History, legends and curiosities Known since Antiquity as the “Gem of the Sun,” peridot was especially valued by the ancient Egyptians, who associated it with light, protection, and solar energy. Legend has it that Cleopatra may have worn peridots in some of her famous jewelry, though there is no historical certainty about it. Another extraordinary curiosity is that peridot has also been found in certain meteorites, which makes this mineral one of the few gemstones that can have an extraterrestrial origin. Over the centuries, this stone has symbolized prosperity, harmony, renewal, and good fortune.
