Père Jean Croiset - Retraite spirituelle pour un jour de chaque mois - 1716

Rare two-volume set of this edition of Catholic spirituality designed to accompany the reader in a regular practice of meditation, inner examination, penance, and renewal of Christian life - The very organization of the book rests on a simple but deeply rooted idea in the religious spirituality of the 17th and 18th centuries: periodically reserving an entire day for recollection in order to distance oneself from ordinary occupations, to consider the state of one’s soul and to reorient one’s life toward God - Each retreat thus constitutes a privileged time of rupture with daily distractions and of turning inward, allowing the believer to reflect on religious duties, on faults, on the fragility of human life, and on the necessity of salvation - Father Jean Croiset - Spiritual retreat for one day of each month - 1716 - Volumes I and II - Edme Couterot - Approximately 450 pages.
