All auctions / Lighting / Parker - Duofold International Black GT - Fountain pen
A0000005111 The pen is in excellent overall condition for its age, preserving its great aesthetic appeal and functionality after being serviced. It is an iconic piece from the firma norteamericana’s top-tier line: the Parker Duofold International Black GT fountain pen (reintroduced starting in 1987), configured in a sober black high-strength glossy acrylic resin with distinguished 23-karat gold-plated details. The International version stands out for its slightly more slender proportions than the Centennial, offering exceptional ergonomics and writing comfort. The cap in black resin retains a deep shine and a magnificent mirror polish, showing light signs of use, storage marks, and micro-scratches due to handling, completely normal when viewed against light. The double gold band at the base is firm, bright, and without loss of plating. The upper crown showcases the classic flat black gemstone inset with total clarity. The gold-plated clip, featuring the iconic Parker arrow stylized design in relief, is in perfect structural condition, correctly aligned and fully functional, maintaining optimal elastic tension for secure grip. The black resin body preserves the same aesthetic and structural quality as the cap, free of cracks, splits, dents, or deep marks. The two fine gold-plated bands located next to the rear conical finial are immaculate, contributing to the characteristic visual balance of the modern Duofold. The cap closure system via quick-turn screw closes smoothly, firmly, and precisely. The black resin grip section is in very good condition, clean and flanked by its corresponding polished gold rings. On the underside of the feed, the factory stroke-point code is engraved, identifying a tip with size "M" (Medium). The original solid 18-karat gold nib (18K-750) bi-tone with platinum mask is a work of art. It features impeccable ornamental engravings of the brand ("PARKER / 18K / 750") flanked by the classic arrow design from the 80s and 90s. It is in fantastic mechanical condition, clean, without deformations, and with its tines perfectly aligned. The pen has been serviced, completely cleaned of old residues, and is compatible with standard Parker cartridges and piston converters, delivered operational and ready for immediate use. Taken together, it is a premium example from Parker’s modern era, magnificently cared for and with minimal signs of use, ideal for discerning collectors as well as anyone seeking an elegant, legendary daily-writing instrument with maximum reliability. Conservation recommendations It is recommended to use high-quality fountain pen inks (preferably water-based and non-pigmented), perform periodic cleaning with lukewarm water if you plan to store it for an extended period or when changing ink color, and dry the components well. For aesthetic maintenance, clean the acrylic resin surface and the gold-plated adornments with a soft microfiber cloth after use to remove fingerprints and preserve its jewelry-like polish. Store the piece in a padded protective box to shield it from extreme temperatures and prolonged direct sunlight. It will be shipped in a courtesy box for proper protection. Happy bidding!
