Quartz pebble from the Paleolithic period. This australopithecine pebble dating from the Oldowan, comes from an old private collection. It constitutes a crude tool from the Lower Paleolithic. It is polished over its entire surface and has an ancient patina, evidence of its antiquity. It was discovered in the 2000s in Congo, at the foot of the Kundelungu plateaus, in Katanga Province. It is dated 3 to 1.5 million years ago, and it is among the first objects worked by hominids for cutting, bone fracturing, and processing plants.
