Blu Chalcedony – A small fungus carved in stone Fungus-shaped sculpture made of blue chalcedony, worked and polished in China. The object features a particularly delicate coloration, where milky white blends with pale blue, lavender, and pearly gray, giving the surface a soft and slightly translucent appearance. The workmanship reproduces the essential shape of a mushroom, with a broad, rounded cap, a central stem, and a slightly widened base that allows the sculpture to stand upright. The cap profile is not perfectly symmetric: one side slopes more gently, while the other has a more pronounced curve, giving the figure a natural look. The surface has been smoothed and polished to achieve a glossy finish. Light reflects off the more convex parts of the cap and partially passes through the material along the thinner edges, where translucency becomes more evident. On the stem, subtle tonal variations and fine internal bands can be observed, features consistent with the structure of chalcedony.
