Pair of South Sea Corsair Pistols, Ceylon, 18th century

Descriptio Pair of flintlock pistols with mother-of-pearl decoration. Round iron barrels and flintlocks; wooden stocks with curved grips fully ornamented with rich inlays of mother-of-pearl cut in vegetal and floral motifs, enhanced by fine inlaid metal scrolls. The pommels have repoussé brass plates with stylized decoration. Brass trigger guards. Oxidation and wear; damage and losses in the inlays; mechanisms untested. 18th century. 45 and 40 cm. Lot in international warehouse (within the EU). Intra-EU shipping: no import duties apply within the EU. An export permit from the country of origin may be required.
