All auctions / Asian Art / Pair of carved, polychrome and marbled corbels, Spain, 18th century

Descriptio Carved, stuccoed, and polychrome wooden corbels. Dimensions: 44 x 35 x 35 cm. With symmetrical plant decoration in the form of acanthus leaves and flowers, polychromed in red, green, and gold with imitation marble. The carving is deep and voluminous, highlighting the sculptural treatment of the forms. These corbels, for architectural or decorative use, were part of the noble liturgical or domestic furniture of the Spanish Baroque. The quality of their execution and the preservation of the original polychromy reinforce their value as a testament to 18th-century ornamental art. Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, no specialized technical testing has been performed. The absence of any mention of restorations does not guarantee that none exist. You may request additional information before placing a bid. This does not affect the buyer’s statutory rights.
