PAAR GROSSE KANDELABER IM EMPIRE-STIL

Frankreich, Ende 19. / Anfang 20. Jahrhundert. Brünierte und feuervergoldete Bronze (bronze patiné et doré) sowie dunkelgrüner, weiß geäderter Marmor (Marmor Vert de Mer). Quadratischer Sockel auf vier gegossenen Füßen mit Voluten und Blattwerk-Relief. Darüber ein profiliertes Sockelelement aus grünem Marmor, bekrönt von einem feingearbeiteten Akanthusblatt-Nodus aus vergoldeter Bronze. Der Säulenschaft aus grünem Marmor wird von einem korinthisch inspirierten Kapitell abgeschlossen. Der reich verzierte Kerzenaufsatz umfasst sechs Lichtarme (fünf S-förmig geschwungene Arme aus patinierter Bronze mit vergoldeten Tüllen und Tropftellern sowie einen zentralen, höher stehenden Lichtarm mit Flammen-Finial). Die Arme sind mit Palmetten, Voluten und Akanthusmotiven üppig dekoriert. Maße: H ca. 95 cm. Sehr guter, altersgemäßer Gesamtzustand. Minimale Bestoßungen an den Marmorkanten. Vergoldung stellenweise leicht berieben, mit schöner Patina. Vereinzelte Wachsspuren in den Tüllen. | A Pair of Large Empire Style Candelabra France, late 19th / early 20th century. Patinated and fire-gilded bronze (bronze patiné et doré) with dark green, white-veined Vert de Mer marble. Each candelabrum is raised on a square base supported by four cast feet enriched with scrolling volutes and foliate relief decoration. Above rests a moulded plinth of dark green Vert de Mer marble, surmounted by a finely chased gilt-bronze acanthus-leaf knop. The columnar shaft of green marble is crowned by a Corinthian-inspired capital. The elaborate candleholder is fitted with six lights, comprising five gracefully scrolling S-shaped arms in patinated bronze with fire-gilded nozzles and drip pans, arranged around a taller central stem surmounted by a flaming finial. The arms are lavishly ornamented with palmettes, volutes, and acanthus motifs, exemplifying the rich decorative vocabulary of the Empire style. Height: approx. 95 cm. Very good overall condition, consistent with age. Minor nicks to the edges of the marble, light rubbing to the gilding in places, and an attractive, well-developed patina. Occasional traces of candle wax remain within the sockets. SHIPPING TO THE USA MUST BE ARRANGED BY THE BUYER.
