Oyster fork (6) - Belle Époque - Metal - seafood forks antique

Set of 6 Belle Époque Oyster Forks with Mother-of-Pearl Handles – France/Belgium – circa 1900 An elegant set of six antique oyster forks dating from the Belle Époque period, crafted around the turn of the 20th century. These refined table accessories combine beautifully shaped gilt metal fork heads with shimmering natural mother-of-pearl handles, finished with decorative silver-coloured ferrules in a classical floral design. During the late 19th and early 20th century, dedicated oyster cutlery became an essential part of formal dining and seafood service. The short, broad three-tined design allows oysters and shellfish to be removed easily from the shell while adding refinement to an elegant table setting. The iridescent mother-of-pearl handles display beautiful natural variations in colour, making every piece unique. The warm golden finish of the fork heads contrasts attractively with the lustrous pearl handles, giving the set a timeless Belle Époque appearance that also suits contemporary interiors and luxury table settings. The forks bear a rhombic maker's mark, although the manufacturer could not be identified with certainty. Condition Good antique condition with normal signs of age and use. Light surface wear, minor scratches and small traces of use consistent with more than a century of careful service. One small fork has a minor flaw in the mother-of-pearl, though this is naturally due to age. The gold finish is in excellent, brilliant condition. Please study the photographs carefully as they form part of the description.
