Ouma BelH - What I Keep Hidden

What I Keep Hidden is an original painting by Tunisian contemporary artist OumaBelH, created in 2026. Through a realistic approach combined with an unsettling, hybrid visual language, the artist explores the hidden dimensions of identity, vulnerability and the parts of ourselves that remain unseen. The work invites the viewer to reflect on the emotions, impulses and personal truths that we conceal from others, and sometimes from ourselves. The painting is part of the artist’s ongoing exploration of the relationship between human identity and animality. Rather than offering a literal narrative, the work creates an ambiguous psychological space in which realism and symbolism meet, encouraging an intimate and personal interpretation. The original artwork was created using oil paint on canvas. It is a unique, original piece, not a print or reproduction.
