Chinese Silk Rugs: Masterpieces of Far Eastern Knotting Art Chinese silk rugs are among the most exclusive and finest textiles in the world. They combine a millennia-old tradition with the utmost craftsmanship and are renowned worldwide for their exceptional quality and elegance. The Material: Pure Luxury These rugs are made from pure natural silk. Using silk for both the pile and often for the warp (the core framework) enables an extremely high knot density. The result is an incredibly fine, almost pictorial depiction of the patterns and a surface that feels incomparably soft and supple. Characteristic Luster & Appearance A hallmark of Chinese silk rugs is their luster. The silk interacts with light in a unique way, causing colors to shift depending on the viewing angle and lighting—sometimes delicate and pastel, sometimes deep and vivid. Many of these rugs also feature a so-called relief-cut (contour cut), where the patterns are carved to give them a three-dimensional depth. Size: 300 x 200 cm Thickness: approx. 4 mm Origin: China Construction: Fine hand-knotted from silk Density: approx. 200,000 knots per m² Pile: 100% silk Warp: 100% silk Age: approx. 20 to 25 years old Condition/Preservation: Perfect top quality / freshly washed Weight: approx. 24 kg Stock: UNIQUE PIECE - Only 1 available
