The No. 08 is the most versatile model of the historic Opinel collection: thanks to its balanced size and light weight, it is perfect for daily use, hikes, camping, trekking, mushroom foraging, picnics and moments of conviviality. The 8.5 cm blade is made from European-origin Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel, tempered to 55-57 HRC, an alloy developed to offer an excellent balance between cutting ability, edge retention and corrosion resistance. The high wear resistance keeps the blade sharp longer even after regular use on demanding materials, while stainless steel requires minimal maintenance under normal use. The handle, 10.9 cm long, is crafted from premium French oak wood, a hard, durable essence naturally rich in tannins that makes it particularly resistant to insects and fungi. The finish with protective varnish protects the wood from moisture and dirt, preserving its beauty over time.
