ow available at auction from Second Vintage This classic 1970s Constellation design pairs a pristine vertically brushed silver dial with an integrated architectural case, offering a highly attractive vintage aesthetic. Powered by the chronometer-certified Caliber 751 movement, this timepiece represents a distinct era of Omega’s design language, complete with a distinctive fluted bezel and an original flat-link bracelet. Brand: Omega Model: Constellation Reference Number: 168.045-368.845 Serial Number: 31945542 Movement: Automatic, Caliber 751, 24 Jewels Dial: Silver vertically brushed finish with day-date window Case Size: 36 mm (excluding the crown) Case Material: Stainless Steel Production Year: Circa 1970 Condition: Good vintage condition. Timegrapher: 6-10s/day, performing remarkably well. Dial and Hands The silver dial is exceptionally clean and well-preserved, featuring a striking vertically brushed finish. Applied indices with black inserts provide excellent contrast, complemented by crisp printing with no visible print loss. There is no visible staining, spotting, or moisture damage. The well-preserved stick hands also feature black inserts, with luminous material remaining intact at the tips and no visible oxidation or corrosion. Case and Crystal The stainless steel case features an integrated lug design with brushed top surfaces and polished flanks. It displays honest wear, showing moderate surface scratches and scuffs consistent with normal use, while the edges remain reasonably defined. The distinctive fluted bezel shows light wear and minor softening of its edges. The caseback features the signature Observatory medallion. The crown is signed with the Omega logo on its face, though it exhibits significant damage and chipping on the outer knurled edge. A flat, clear crystal protects the dial, showing no significant scratches, chips, or crazing. Movement The automatic Caliber 751 movement presents a clean appearance with copper-colored plating and no visible corrosion or staining. The rotor is present, and clear engravings denote 24 jewels along with adjustment to five positions and temperature. Recording 6-10s/day on the timegrapher, it is exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece. Strap The watch is fitted with its original signed bracelet, featuring an integrated flat link design and an Omega signed clasp. Offering a period correct integrated style, the bracelet shows moderate surface scratches and wear consistent with the case. It accommodates a maximum wrist fit of 17.5cm. Condition Good vintage condition. The case and integrated bracelet show honest wear with moderate surface scratches and scuffs, while the fluted bezel displays minor softening. The signed crown has significant damage and chipping along its outer edge. In contrast, the dial and hands remain exceptionally clean and well-preserved, free of notable aging. Supported by the 6-10s/day timegrapher reading, the movement is performing with impressive consistency. Dimensions The case size is 36 mm (excluding the crown). Remarks This Constellation offers a compelling contrast between its honestly worn exterior and its exceptionally preserved dial. The presence of the chronometer-certified Caliber 751 and the original integrated bracelet make this a highly authentic and appealing example of 1970s Omega design. History During the late 1960s and early 1970s, the Constellation collection shifted towards architectural case designs with integrated aesthetics. This evolution reflected the changing tastes of the era, moving away from traditional curved lugs toward more substantial, geometric profiles. This specific example represents that transitional period perfectly, housing the highly respected Caliber 751 movement within a beautifully integrated stainless steel form.
