Carl Hansen & Søn’s OW149 Colonial lounge chairs are a fine example of mid-century Scandinavian design and one of the best-known works of the Danish designer Ole Wanscher. Released in 1959, the Colonial lounge chair pays tribute to the classic aesthetics of its time in a fresh, contemporary manner. The slender, well-crafted solid wood frame and voluminous cushions create a sophisticated silhouette that invites you to sit back. The charm of the Colonial lounge chair derives from the combination of timeless design and uncompromised comfort – Wanscher’s essential aim was to design a chair that would be slender and stable at the same time. Later, Wanscher continued the Colonial series with a matching couch, coffee table and footstool, which makes a perfect companion for the lounge chair. The products are made by hand in Denmark. The chairs have padded cushions covered in Thor leather, finishing in shades of burgundy. The chairs are in good condition, some minor residue and wear (see pictures) The chairs are barely used.
