Officer's travel clock (2) - L'Épée 1839 - Gold-Plated Brass - 1980-1990

The design and excellence of this model are tied to one of the most celebrated pages in modern real history. In 1981, the L'Épée 1839 manufactory was chosen to create a limited and numbered edition of only 100 carriage clocks (housed in special Hermès-branded cases), commissioned as an exclusive wedding gift for the guests of honor at the royal wedding between Prince Charles and Lady Diana. This historic link to the British Crown makes L'Épée travel models a universal symbol of nobility, collecting, and timeless French elegance. Object details Brand / Manufacturer: L'Épée 1839 Model / Type: Travel clock / Carriage clock (Carriage clock / Pendulette d'Officier) Case material: Polished gilt brass with beveled glass panels Dial: White enamel with black Roman numerals for hours, outer minute scale, and lower sub-dial Mechanism: Manual-wind mechanical (escapement visible on the upper side) Country of origin: France (Sainte-Suzanne) Era: Late 20th Century (circa 1980s) Included accessories: Original brass winding key in the shape of a four-leaf clover Splendid and elegant carriage clock (Officier) crafted by the prestigious French manufactory L'Épée 1839, a global benchmark for high-end desk clocks. The rectangular case is entirely made of polished gilt brass, enriched by a classic pull handle on the top and four beveled mineral glass panes that reveal the fascinating internal mechanical movement. The main dial is finished in immaculate white enamel, with large black Roman numerals and blued hands, accompanied by a 6 o’clock sub-dial (alarm/time adjustment function). At the top, an additional glass window allows observation of the still-working anchor escapement. This clock represents the quintessence of classical style and is an indispensable timepiece for any discerning collector! Aesthetic condition: Very good overall. See photos to assess the actual condition of the item The clock is functional, but since it dates from the 1980s, for everyday use we recommend servicing.
