Obsidian - Christ's Cross Necklace - Sacred Protection...

Obsidian necklace adorned with a large ornate cross incorporating Christ's face. Symbol of redemption, inner strength, and eternal hope. This necklace bears the imposing Cross of the Holy Face of Christ surrounded by its crown of thorns, a powerful symbol of divine protection, faith, and spiritual victory, mounted on black obsidian pearls. At the heart of Christian tradition, the Holy Face sculpted on the cross embodies the absolute mystery of the Passion: the serene acceptance of the trial that precedes the Resurrection. Far from evoking defeat, the face of the crowned-with-thorns Christ expresses a tranquil majesty, dominating suffering to offer salvation and redemption. At the top, the inscription “INRI” recalls a spiritual authority higher than all earthly kingdoms. The contrast between the silver sheen of the crucifix and the deep blackness of the obsidian gives this piece a solemn presence. Born from the depths of the earth, obsidian acts as a vigilant guard, absorbing shadows to let the light of the Christic symbol shine through. Worn close to the body, this necklace grants its wearer a deep sense of inner peace and a protective bastion against life’s trials. It constantly recalls the triumph of grace over darkness, guiding its bearer with integrity, dignity, and confidence. Dimensions: - necklace length: 56 cm. - weight: 56 g. - obsidian beads: ≈0.65 cm. - ornate silvered metal cross: 5.8 x 3.65 cm. - Spring clasp stamped 925 silver. 925 silver ring. The Holy Face and the Crown of Thorns: The Spiritual Triumph The depiction of the Christ’s face with lowered eyes and serene features symbolizes the peace that transcends the torments of the world. The crown of thorns, initially imposed as derision, becomes in Christian mysticism the true diadem of divine glory. This motif recalls that moral strength and faith always triumph over adversity. The Titulus INRI: The Supreme Authority Abbreviation of Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum (“Jesus the Nazarene, King of the Jews”), this inscription placed at the top of the cross asserts the eternal sovereignty of the Spirit over material powers. It gives the piece a dimension of spiritual affirmation and continuous blessing. The Spreading Shape of the Cross: Radiance and Blessing The widened arms of the cross echo the aesthetics of medieval processional crosses, designed to diffuse divine blessing to the four cardinal directions. The contrasting finish, alternating bright reliefs and patinated backgrounds, highlights the nobility of the engraving. Black Obsidian: The Mineral Bastion Volcanic glass revered since ancient times for its austere purity, black obsidian traditionally accompanies devotional objects. It is reputed to absorb troubled thoughts and preserve the bearer’s serenity, forming a silent, protective guard around the heart. The photographs were taken under LED lighting using dedicated photographic equipment to accurately render the details, reliefs, and nuances of the object. Some precious and semi-precious stones may be subject to traditional treatments intended to enhance their color or transparency. No specific gemological examination has been performed on this piece.
