O. Oehler Berlin - German-system keywork - - Oboe - Germany - 1900

Up for auction today is a highly rare and historical German-system oboe crafted by the legendary German master woodwind maker Oskar Oehler in Berlin (active late 19th century to 1936). While Oehler is universally famous for his revolutionary modifications to the clarinet, his workshop produced a very limited number of premium custom flutes, bassoons, and oboes. This piece represents an exceptional find for collectors of historic instruments, acoustic museums, or specialists in Germanic woodwind lineages. This is a rare piece of history, so don’t miss out! Material & Condition: * Wood Body: Excellent structural condition with no visible cracks, splits, or repairs. The Grenadilla (African Blackwood) is beautifully preserved with a rich, dark grain. Finding an un-split wood instrument of this vintage is highly uncommon. * Maker's Mark: The original workshop stamp "O. Oehler Berlin" with his signature emblem is clearly visible and crisp on the upper joint, lower joint, and bell. * Keywork: Features traditional German-system keywork with a beautiful vintage patina. All keys, rods, and springs are physically intact. The keys show typical surface tarnish from storage but will polish up beautifully. * Pads & Mechanics: The pads and corks are vintage and will require standard servicing/re-padding if the winning bidder intends to restore it to playing condition. What’s Included: * Original Oskar Oehler Oboe (Upper Joint, Lower Joint, Bell) * Original hardshell plush-lined storage case * Period-accurate internal bore cleaning brushes/screwdrivers as shown in photos Shipment: The lot will be carefully packaged and shipped by Deutsche Post (DHL) with tracking. This item is being sold as-is as pictured, so please take a look at the photos carefully as they are part of the description.
