The Secret of Kyoto is a contemporary work that explores the boundary between identity, memory, and the Japanese imaginary. A woman appears in a composition dominated by varying shades of blue and white. Her face seems to gradually fragment to reveal Japanese architecture, as if a landscape, a memory, or a secret place existed behind her appearance. The fan held in her hand strengthens this deeply Asian dimension and adds an elegant tension to the composition. The character is not simply depicted: she seems inhabited by another world. The orange touches, used sparingly, break the blue monochromy and guide the eye through the work. They create a powerful contrast amid the projections, traces of matter and zones left almost immaculate by design. Between contemporary portrait, abstraction, expressionism, and Japanese influences, The Secret of Kyoto operates on several levels of reading. From a distance, the gaze is immediately drawn to the face and the fan. As you approach, the composition progressively reveals its fragments of architecture, its flowers, its movements of matter, and its hidden details. The work evokes this invisible part that each person carries inside: places, memories, and stories that others can only catch a glimpse of. A creation especially suited to collectors of contemporary figurative art, works inspired by Japan, and compositions where portrait meets abstraction.
