--- History of the work --- It does not flee. It launches itself. Her body is propelled forward, one hand on the ground, while the other holds her sword behind her. Her kimono unfurls around her like a wave frozen in the middle of her movement. In The Porcelain Charge, everything rests on a paradox: to represent speed, power, and determination through a material that seems fragile. The warrior appears entirely crafted in ivory porcelain adorned with cobalt blue motifs. Flowers cover her face, her arms, and her garment, while a network of fine cracks recalls the fragility of the material. Yet, nothing in her posture is fragile. The character is captured in that very particular moment that precedes action. The sword has not yet been used. The fight is not shown. What matters here is not the confrontation, but the mastery that precedes it. Her face remains focused. Her movement is precise. Her blade remains under control. Porcelain thus takes on another meaning. What can be broken is not necessarily weak. The cracks that run through the character become symbolic traces of what has already been traversed. They neither prevent her from moving forward nor from fighting. On the contrary, she moves forward with them. The black background isolates the silhouette entirely and strengthens the intensity of the blue and ivory. The character seems to emerge from the darkness, like a porcelain sculpture that has suddenly come to life. The Porcelain Charge thus tells the story of determination after the trial: continuing to move forward while bearing the marks of her history. She is not intact. She is still standing. And she advances. --- Technique and creation process --- This work originates from an original digital painting, worked notably with Photoshop and Krita. The artistic creation relies on a digital process of composition, colors, textures, light, and detail to progressively build the character and her universe. Once the creation is finalized, an artificial intelligence tool may intervene only in a technical phase to improve image definition, notably to increase resolution and reduce pixelation before its transfer onto the physical support. Artificial intelligence is also used as a drafting assistant to structure and develop the detailed description accompanying the presentation of the work in this submission.
