Large in-4 / folio (approx. 33 cm), 207 pp., publisher’s black cloth binding, silver title, illustrated dust jacket with flaps, and original red slipcase. Numerous black-and-white and color reproductions, both in the text and as inserts. First edition. ISBN 2-7335-0061-9. An important collection devoted to the erotic and clandestine drawings from 1919 to 1939, ranging from Marcel Duchamp’s *Grand Verre* to Hans Bellmer’s *Poupée*. The book brings together a particularly rich collection of works by Bellmer, Cocteau, Dalí, Ernst, Foujita, Kupka, Léger, Maillol, Marquet, Masson, Matisse, Miró, Picasso, Van Dongen, Vertès, and others. The initial letters are taken from Pascin’s *Abécédaire des filles et de l’enfant chérie*. This copy is enhanced by a signed autograph dedication by Bernard Noël on the half-title page: “To Jean-Paul must one know how to say what defies words or silences them… as a token of friendship Bernard” A beautiful, complete copy with dust jacket and slipcase. The interior appears in very fresh condition based on the photographs. Some minor signs of wear and scuffing on the red slipcase, particularly along the edges and corners; the dust jacket shows a few slight signs of wear. The set remains very presentable.
