Nocona, Texas. $5 1929 Ty. 1. Fr. 1800-1. Farmers & Merchants NB.

ocona, Texas. $5 1929 Ty. 1. Fr. 1800-1. Farmers & Merchants NB. Charter #7617. PCGS Banknote About Uncirculated 55 Details. Light Stains. Serial Number 1. Representative of a cadre of "souvenirs" saved on this Montague County bank by the National Bank Note Census. This lightly circulated T1 $5 issued by the Farmers & Merchants Bank of Nocona (Charter# 7617) during the 1930s is a scarce item regardless of context as the National Bank Note Census records 48 non-institutional notes on this bank overall. Yet the recorded population is rather immaterial when it comes to this particular specimen. Emblazoned "B000001A" at left and right, bidders would be keen to overlook the "Light Stains" and recognize that this note represents the first sheet of T1 $5s issued by this bank which is why this very note deserves a premium bid. PCGS Banknote comments "Light Stains." Estimate: $1,500 - $2,500. Provenance: From the Jack Copeland Currency Collection, Part IV. Click here for certification details from PCGS Banknote.
