No reserve price - Brooch Silver - Dirk Brooch 1900-1920

Special antique Scottish brooch in the shape of a dirk, the traditional long dagger from the Scottish Highland culture. This type of brooch became particularly popular during the Scottish Revival in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The brooch is made of sterling silver and inlaid with various colored materials, characteristic of this type of Scottish jewellery. At the top there is a faceted purple paste/glass paste stone. Below it sits a small dark green hardstone, presumably bloodstone/heliotrope, and in the elongated part a reddish-brown hardstone that visually matches jasper or agate. On the reverse side it bears only STERLING SILVER. No maker's mark. The brooch has a simple open pin closure (type C clasp), without modern safety, which together with the construction and material choice fits a dating around the end of the 19th / beginning of the 20th century. The brooch is in good antique condition with wear appropriate for its age. On the back of the section with the purple stone there is a deeper scratch visible. At the height of this section there is also a small dent. Otherwise there are no notable damages and the various insets are still securely in place.
