Curated collection of antique, vintage and modern rugs No Reserve - Fine Antique Silk Kashan Mohtashem Rug, Central Persia, circa 1900 Size: 6 ft 5 in x 4 ft 2 in (1.95 m x 1.27 m) Provenance: Property of a Nashville collector Finely woven in silk, this elegant Kashan Mohtashem exemplifies the technical refinement and sophisticated drawing associated with the leading urban workshops of central Persia around the turn of the twentieth century. The luminous surface allows the composition to change subtly with the direction of light, enhancing both the colors and the precision of the ornament. Silk Kashan rugs were luxury objects intended to demonstrate the extraordinary control of the designer, dyer and weaver. This example offers collectors an opportunity to acquire a finely woven classical Persian carpet without reserve. Condition Request Condition Report Lot #401 is in very good condition.
