Curated collection of antique, vintage and modern rugs No Reserve - Antique Caucasian Shirvan Rug - Circa 1880 Size: 6 ft 1 in x 4 ft 3 in (1.85 m x 1.29 m) Provenance: Property of a New York dealer A charming nineteenth-century Shirvan rug with a warm Tan field, carefully organized geometric ornament, and an unusual star-like device near the lower portion of the composition. The highly personal arrangement suggests the individuality of its village weaver. Multiple narrow borders frame the field, adding visual intricacy to the rug and diminishing its spontaneous tribal character. Condition Request Condition Report Lot #555 is in fair condition. The pile is low and even. One end has been professionally re-woven for approximately 1½ inches, and both ends are hand-secured. The sides are securely finished. There is no dryness in the foundation. The rug is clean and floor-ready. Please contact our rug experts at auction@nazmiyal.com or call us for any questions you may have at 212.545.8029. Please note that all lots are sold "AS IS. " Condition reports are given as a courtesy to our clients and shall not be deemed as a guarantee of the lot's condition, quality, and authenticity. The absence of a condition report does not imply the item is in perfect condition.
