icole Lubbers is a Dutch visual artist from the eastern part of the country. Her work is characterized by an innovative and idiosyncratic approach to abstract art, in which painting, relief and sculptural elements come together. With rich colors, layered structures and diverse materials she creates powerful works around themes such as resilience, movement, strength and transformation. Lubbers was proclaimed Artist of the Year 2024 during the Belgrade Biennale, received the Institutional Award of the Municipality of Montecosaro and placed second at the World Art Awards as Most Innovative Artist 2024. Additionally, she was counted among the 100 best female artists in the world and recognized as Master in Art. Internationally her work has been shown and planned for exhibitions in New York, Venice, Florence, Belgrade, Belgium, China and Montecosaro, alongside exhibitions in Dutch galleries. A particularly high point is Beyond the Surface, a solo exhibition on Times Square in New York. Additionally, Nicole together with artist Michael Lam presents the exhibition Harmony in Motion: Two Artists, One Vision. Here Lam’s flowing Single Stroke Painting and Lubbers’ expressive, layered structures meet each other. The color purple forms the connecting line between two different artistic languages and symbolizes creativity, spirituality and transformation. The work of Nicole Lubbers is more than decoration.
