Netherlands. Wilhelmina. 2 1/2 Cent 1942 zink UITERST ZELDZAAM in

One of the kingdom's rarest coins, in a nice plastic case from PCGS, thus with authenticity guarantee from PCGS. These zinc WWII coins that were minted during our occupation with a mintage of 200,000 pieces have almost all been melted, with this one either remaining from the smelting furnace (or perhaps fallen beside it). Quality-wise, this is one of the four best-graded specimens at PCGS. Unfortunately, the price is not within everyone's reach and this will be the most expensive piece we auction this week in our 6th Single Seller Auction. Obverse: Fries ûleboerd - NETHERLANDS Reverse: 2½ cents with four waves and two ears of corn, underneath 1942 Material: Zinc - Zn Weight: approx. 2.80 grams excluding slab Reference: Schulman 1038 Slab and number: PCGS - 766882.62/45921235 Population: 1/3 Quality: MintState 62 Nb! The coin shows light corrosion traces, which is common for zinc coins around 80 years old; since it was not a circulation coin it nonetheless achieved MS62. This lot is offered in our special SSA Numistrust selection auction; this special 6th auction runs until the last Tuesday of the month. This special Single Seller Auction contains exclusively collectibles from the Queen Wilhelmina reign.
