NETHERLANDS INDIES. Javasche Bank. 40 Gulden, 27.4.1920. P-68a. PMG

ETHERLANDS INDIES. Javasche Bank. 40 Gulden, 27.4.1920. P-68a. PMG Very Fine 25. The 40 Gulden in the present lot completes this rare trio of notes of this obscure issue of the Javasche Bank. The exact reasons for their issuance or a bit unclear, but they are the only time that these three denominations were issued by the bank. The design also differs from the bank's other notes, which typically feature a portrait of Jan Pieterszoon Coen, or later the famous Wayang dancers. This note is surpassed by just three finer examples and presents well for the technical grade. PMG Comments "Security Stamp at Issue, Rust."

Estimate:$1,000
