What should have been a festive day turns into a confrontation between ideals and authority. The coronation of Beatrix takes place in a time of housing shortage, social inequality, and growing protest. For many, the coronation is not just a ceremony, but also a symbol. The slogan “No housing, no coronation” rings loud and clear. The city becomes the stage for clashes, barricades, and unrest. The coronation riots show how deep social tensions can run. Youth, squatters, and activists demand attention for their future. The government responds with force and order. Two worlds collide, visible to the whole country.
