This monumental shell of petrified wood is a genuine masterwork of geological history. It comes from Indonesia, one of the world’s most renowned regions for fossilized wood of exceptional quality. Its organic form recalls the tree’s former vitality, while the smoothly polished surface in finely nuanced brown, cream, and beige tones reveals the ancient grain. Particularly fascinating are the fine, sometimes crystalline veins of agate and quartz that wind through the wood fossil like geological artworks. These inclusions glitter subtly in the light, adding depth and an elegant complexity to the already impressive structure of the bowl. Each line, each fiber tells the story of millions of years of earth history, captured in a piece that today gains new meaning as both a functional and decorative object. Petrified wood forms through a natural silicification process, in which the organic material is gradually replaced by minerals and transformed into stone over long periods of time. This bowl is thus not only a one-of-a-kind work of exceptional beauty but also a witness to a world that existed long before us. Whether as a central design piece in a stylish interior, a museum-worthy focal point, or a special collector’s item, this bowl expresses a sense of earthly connection, endurance, and natural elegance. Its unique blend of form, color, history, and texture makes it a highlight for anyone seeking something extraordinary. Stone: Natural Large Fossilized Wood Bowl from Indonesia - Interwoven with distinctive Agate/Quartz Veins Weight: 3731,13 g Size: 235x188x63mm Treatment: None Origin: Indonesia It is a fossil wood dating back 200 million years, all parts from a log or branches have been silicified, meaning that organic components were little by little replaced by silicon in the form of jasper, chalcedony and more rarely opal. Without the organic parts, all the living matter was replaced by stone : there are growth rings, cell separations, almost like worm cracks. Its features are those of the mineral that would have pseudo-transformed the wood : the silicon. And that’s what we call a "petrified wood" in the common language. The disclaimer about the healing properties as previously given : It is believed that certain gemstones and minerals have beneficial health and spiritual properties.
