This impressive sphere made of petrified wood combines the original structure of ancient tree matter with an extraordinarily vivid color palette. Without the organic parts, all the living matter was replaced by stone : there are growth rings, cell separations, almost like worm cracks. Its features are those of the mineral that would have pseudo-transformed the wood : the silicon. And that’s what we call a "petrified wood" in the common language.
