This impressive moldavite displays an exceptionally rich green coloration, ranging from deep forest and olive greens to vivid emerald tones depending on the angle of light. Especially under brighter illumination, the piece reveals its pronounced translucence and develops a fascinating inner depth. A distinctive feature is the strongly textured surface. Numerous rounded, interlocking depressions and elevations give the moldavite a highly plastic texture. Nearby are glassy-looking areas with typical flow and fracture structures. When viewed against the light, these different structures become especially evident and create a lively play of light—bright, almost transparent regions and intensely saturated green zones. Moldavite belongs to the group of tektites and was formed about 15 million years ago as a result of the colossal meteorite impact that created the Ries crater in southern Germany. The enormous energy released upon impact melted earthly rock material and ejected it over great distances. As the melt flew through the atmosphere, it cooled and solidified into the characteristic green natural glass known today as moldavite. This piece comes from the Czech Republic, the classic find area for moldavite. Specimens with strong green color, good light transmittance, and distinctly pronounced surface texture are particularly sought after by collectors. Due to the limited find areas and finite natural sources, high-quality moldavite also holds a special status among tektites and collectible minerals. Moldavite also enjoys an extraordinary metaphysical reputation. Traditionally, it is regarded as a stone of profound change, expanded consciousness, and personal development. It is attributed with especially intense energy believed to help dissolve entrenched patterns and open up new perspectives. A characterful natural moldavite rough stone, distinguished especially by its unusually plastic surface texture, its intense green coloration, and its impressive effect when viewed against the light. Our shipping costs have been checked and acknowledged by Catawiki. We have an external shipping company that performs the final inspection, pickup, packaging, and shipping; this is what creates these shipping costs. The purchaser bears all potential import and export duties, customs fees, shipping costs, etc. See also our other items and shipping costs; pickup may save costs.. In some of the pictures the stone was backlit to show you the color of the stone. In some stones we have held lighting under the stone to better display the color of the pieces. And color deviations may occur, as every computer, monitor, and phone can display colors with different qualities.
