All auctions / Ethnographic / Natural malachite stalactite step with concentric...
This impressive malachite stalactite slab captures the full expressive power of this copper mineral in its raw, naturally grown form. The surface is characterized by densely packed, botryoidal and stalactitic outgrowths, forming a vivid relief in a range of greens—from deep forest green to bright, almost emerald hues. Particularly fascinating are the cut stalactites with their clearly recognizable concentric rings, which document the mineral's slow growth like tree rings. The interplay of a velvety-matte texture and sparsely glossy patches gives the piece a strong sculptural quality. In its overall appearance, the slab seems archaic and powerful, yet harmoniously balanced. As a collector's piece or a striking object for a display cabinet, this malachite unfolds a calm, grounding presence to which a balancing and protective energy is traditionally attributed—subtly felt, without overpowering the piece's visual dominance.
