Natural freeform from Turritella agate / fossil snail...

This extraordinary freeform shows an impressive density of fossil structures and reads like a frozen snapshot of ancient life. Across the entire surface, delicate, snail-shaped fossils and curved fragment lines run, creating a fascinating ornamental overall image. The fossils appear in light cream and beige tones and stand out clearly from the finely structured, gray-green to sandy-colored host rock. Particularly appealing is the natural distribution of the fossils: some appear fully preserved, others appear as cut spirals or elongated fragments, producing a lively, almost graphical pattern. Through careful polishing, this detailed fossil structure is exceptionally brought to the fore and gives the freeform a calm yet very exciting radiance. Turritella Agate, or fossil snail stone, is among the classic fossil jewelry and collectible rocks. Pieces with such a high fossil density and clear pattern are comparatively rare and possess a special decorative as well as collectible appeal. As a display piece, this freeform exudes a strong presence. Depending on the viewing angle, new details, small spirals, lines and natural inclusions emerge, making the ancient formation history of the stone visible. In the field of lithotherapy, fossil material has traditionally been ascribed a grounding, stabilizing effect – a calm, nature-connected energy that harmonizes superbly with the archaic look of this piece. Stone: Turritella Agate Weight: 815.93 g Size: 117x114x48 mm Treatment: None Origin: USA It is a fossil wood dating back 200 million years, with all parts derived from a log or branches that have been silicified, meaning that organic components were gradually replaced by silicon in the form of jasper, chalcedony and more rarely opal. Without the organic parts, all the living matter was replaced by stone: there are growth rings, cell separations, almost like worm cracks. Its features are those of the mineral that would have pseudo-transformed the wood: the silicon. And that’s what we call a "petrified wood" in the common language.
