Muppets Orient Express Display & Dark Crystal

Two Jim Henson-related display pieces, including "Muppets on the Orient Express," a photographic display panel featuring Miss Piggy, Kermit the Frog and other Muppet characters posed in period dress with luggage at a nighttime train station. The image was art directed by Lyndon Mosse and photographed by John E. Barrett, and was conceived as a corporate cross-promotion with Italian fashion designer Alviero Martini. The photograph was later displayed on the "New Visions" wall of the traveling exhibition Jim Henson's Muppets Monsters & Magic, where it was identified as "Muppets on the Orient Express." The reverse of the wood-mounted panel is handwritten "NEW VISIONS PANEL / MUPPETS ON THE / ORIENT EXPRESS." Panel is approx. 20" x 15" and shows considerable surface and edge wear, including deep scratches, scuffs, abrasions and areas of image loss. Also includes a framed watercolor illustration depicting a character from Jim Henson's The Dark Crystal, shown playing a stringed instrument. Illustration is matted and framed, sight size approx. 5-1/2" x 8". Handwritten on the frame backing paper of the illustration is "C17 #8" Estimate $1,000 - $1,500
