The cursive letter 'h' represents the year: 1863. It features a Victorian portrait of the Queen during the tax collection period. It was manufactured by the renowned manufacturer R H. The overall condition is excellent. Height: 13.1 cm. Mouth diameter: 8.1 cm (12.8 cm including handle). Base diameter: 9 cm. Weight: 302 grams. Britain, as the birthplace of European silversmithing, has a history of over 1000 years. Initially, silverware was primarily used in religious activities and in the lives of royalty and nobility, serving as a symbol of power and status. As British silversmithing techniques reached their pinnacle, the use of silverware gradually became fashionable, culminating in its golden age during the Victorian era of the 19th century. At this time, silverware was ingeniously conceived, crafted with intricate yet exceptionally refined techniques, employing hammering, engraving, relief carving, openwork, and inlay, resulting in a collection of highly artistic pieces. Simultaneously, master silversmiths gained attention from royalty and nobility, and were sought after by collectors worldwide, remaining highly prized ever since. Abroad, silverware collecting, especially the collection of European royal silverware, has become highly sought after by collectors, forming a complete system. Major international auction houses hold dedicated auctions of antique silverware annually. Due to the limited number of high-quality silverware pieces in existence, prices are substantial. Especially in European high society, owning a piece of exquisite silverware made by a renowned artist is a symbol of prestige and elegance.
