"Dear Sir, I believed I could visit you on one of the days you kindly proposed for this purpose, but at the last moment I was detained and a succession of endless impediments has prevented me from offering you another day for our meeting. I am coming today to ask whether next Wednesday at 4:30 would suit for this purpose. If so, do not trouble yourself to reply; otherwise you may perhaps have the courtesy to set another day for me, if possible at 5:30. Please accept, Sir, the expression of my best sentiments. M.
