Excellent condition and masterfully carved Wiener meerschaum pipe - end of the 19th century - presumably unused or hardly smoked. I’m not an expert, but I see no signs of smoking - with reservations! Depicted is a dog - presumably bulldog-pug - perched on graceful volutes/scrollwork Such pipes were extremely popular collector and luxury objects in the Victorian era and around the turn of the century in Europe.
