Only a few athletes are celebrated and honored like Muhammad Ali, the three-time world heavyweight champion, whose legendary moments in sport and civil rights activism have made him one of the most influential athletes and humanitarians of the 20th century. As an athlete, Ali shook the world with his strength, skill, and personality, becoming the world heavyweight champion at just 22. His greatest string of triumphs, however, stemmed from his humanitarian efforts. Made in precious black resin, the cap resembles a boxing bag while the stem looks like the boxing tape athletes use to wrap their hands. The cap features various design elements, such as Ali's famous quote and a butterfly inspired by this classic fighting style: float like a butterfly, sting like a bee. The pointed cone echoes this notion and is engraved with four lines representing the ropes of a boxing ring. The inscriptions on the cone refer to Ali’s victory at the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome and to his first world heavyweight title won in Miami in 1964. The details of his victory, namely winning in the seventh round by technical knockout, can be found on the cap’s ring. To celebrate his first title, the Montblanc emblem in white resin is adorned with a 1. To emphasize this achievement, the clip is shaped like a boxing championship belt and bears his name. The hand-made solid yellow gold nib (Au 585) shows a boxing glove.
