The deep, velvety blue of this three-strand necklace is reminiscent of the precious jewelry that shaped the courtly jewellery culture of the Indian subcontinent for centuries. The necklace is composed of cut sapphire beads in a slightly flattened spherical shape, arranged in a graduated pattern. The three parallel strands of sapphires are rhythmically connected by slightly arched spacers made of 14-karat gold. These golden elements give structure to the design while also providing warm accents against the gentle blue of the gemstones. In India, the sapphire has always held special significance, as it was one of the maharajas’ favorite gemstones and was used in both court necklaces and ceremonial jewellery. The arrangement of the sapphire beads in multiple strands draws on this historical design tradition and lends the necklace a beautiful presence. A clasp from the German manufacturer J. Köhle securely fastens the necklace. An expressive piece of jewellery that combines the elegance of the classic Indian gemstone tradition with a timeless, wearable design.
