eoclassical Wall Mirror in Ebonyed Wood with Gilding - Greek Key Decoration - Empire Style Description: Up for auction is a fascinating wall mirror in Neoclassical style, presumably from the mid-20th century, evoking the elegance of the Empire period. Key Features: Design: The mirror features a slender rectangular frame with a distinctive shaped and carved pediment at the top. Decoration: The frame is adorned with a refined, continuous raised meander (Greek key) motif, highlighted by a gilded finish applied to the ebony-black/dark brown surface. The pediment is enriched with elegant stylized foliate carvings, also gilded. Finish: The contrast between the dark ebony base and the aged gilding gives the mirror a sophisticated, vintage appearance. Condition: The mirror is in fair vintage condition. The frame bears a charming patina and light signs of time compatible with its age, authenticating its character (small wear to the gilding and to the ebony finish). The mirror itself is intact. On the back there is a small original hook for hanging."
