Matter, light and reflections erase the boundaries between water, sky and architecture. The distance between two worlds speaks of the inner journey and of that invisible space that separates what we leave behind from what we still seek. • Origin: Born July 28, 1968 in the Czech Republic, in the city of České Budějovice. • Early career: Even before formally studying Fine Arts, he was painting actively and selling his works. At 21, he was known in Germany, the Netherlands and other European countries. By 25, he had sold more than 1,000 works around the world. • Artistic evolution: By the time he reached 40, he discarded commercial painting and delved into a more authentic and profound artistic expression. He left home and his former life to work on the street, approaching experiences of poverty, solitude and passion. At 43, he began a new stylistic and creative phase. • Artist’s philosophy: For him, art is a space of absolute freedom—where he connects with the essence of things and the deepest feelings. Where the only valid time is that of the brush; to create or recreate life on a canvas, paper or sculpture is, for him, a sublime act. ⸻ Achievements, recognitions and exhibitions • Awards: • 2023: European Artist Award in Milan, Italy. • 2021: Appointed Coordinator of Art and Painting of the Czech Republic. • Exhibitions: • Participated in a group exhibition in Berja (Andalusia, Spain) in 2023. • Residencies: • Artistic residency in Garachico (Canary Islands, Spain) in 1997. • Representation and reviews: • Since 2025, represented by 1819 Art Gallery in Madrid, Spain. • His work received critical reviews, among others by Antonio Sánchez, director and curator of 1819 Gallery, highlighting his collection as a “pictorial symphony between light, nature and essence,” with a technique that fuses the abstract and the figurative, an intense use of color and deeply material texture. ⸻ Artistic style His work is characterized by an approach between the abstract and the figurative, where: • Thick, angular brushstrokes predominate, applied with mixed techniques (impasto) that create a notable three-dimensional effect. • The color palette uses blues, greens and earth tones, often contrasted by intense reds and oranges, evoking serenity and passion at the same time. • Texture is a key expressive element: layers of paint stacked with energy, creating an enveloping, sensorial atmosphere. • The composition is built from an asymmetrical harmony, challenging conventions and generating a visual tension that invites ongoing exploration of the canvas. • In several works, the human figure emerges fused with the natural environment, as if it were part of the landscape itself, revealing a deep symbolic symbiotic connection with nature. ⸻ General interpretation • A artist in constant transformation: He has traveled a path from commercial success to a more authentic and visceral expression, which even led him to live and create in extreme environments. • Sensorial richness: His works seek to involve all the senses of the spectator: light, color, texture and emotion in an almost tactile experience. • Spirituality and nature: The fusion between humanity and the natural surroundings, together with an expressive and emotionally charged technique, point to a deep search for spiritual connection. Miroslav Špadrna | Pintorcheco Contemporary artist — Czech Republic / Spain Miroslav Špadrna, professionally known as Pintorcheco, is a Czech-born contemporary artist and painter, born in 1968 and resident in Spain. His artistic practice unfolds at the meeting ground between abstraction and figuration, building a visual language marked by chromatic intensity, matter, movement and a profound spiritual dimension. His painting is characterized by a gestural, material and textured execution. Through the use of spatula, impasto and mixed techniques on canvas, Špadrna builds surfaces of high physical and visual density. The layers of paint, reliefs and the traces of gesture turn matter into an essential part of the meaning of each work. Color occupies a central place in his language. Deep blues, greens and earth tones dialogue with yellows, magentas and intensely bright oranges. In series such as Indigo Portals, blue ceases to function only as a color and becomes a symbolic space: depth, silence, energy and passage toward an inner reality. His work explores universal questions such as inner light, transformation, memory, silence and freedom. The forms seem to emerge and disappear within the pictorial surface, creating spaces that can resemble landscapes, architectures, figures or imaginary territories without becoming fully defined. This ambiguity is one of the fundamental elements of his proposal: the viewer does not receive a closed image, but an open space for interpretation and emotional experience. Throughout his career, Špadrna has developed an increasing international presence. Among the recognitions linked to his career are distinctions received in Milan (2023) and Florence (2025), in addition to his appointment as Coordinator of Art and Painting in the Czech Republic in 2021. His work has also achieved international projection through platforms and markets specialized in contemporary art, forming a trajectory that connects his Central European origin with his current creative phase in Spain. More than representing a visible reality, Miroslav Špadrna seeks to build emotional spaces. In his paintings, matter, light and color function as doors to inner states where the recognizable and the unknown remain in constant tension.
