MILITARIA. Imperial German Pickelhaube

A leather-bodied Imperial German Pickelhaube, retaining its original black leather shell, brass spike and fittings, and large silver-toned Prussian eagle helmet plate. The eagle bears the crowned cypher "FR" to the breast, with the traditional motto scrolls extending from either side. The helmet is fitted with a tall, fluted brass spike mounted on a domed base secured by rivets. Original leather chinstrap with brass buckles remains present. Froma Kent, CT estate. Dimensions: item measures approx. 10.25" length. Condition: The leather exhibits expected age-related drying, crazing, cracking, and surface wear, with areas of finish loss commensurate with age and use. Repaired with adhesive (see photo).
