Michael Serfaty - Bar des Etats Unis série « Aires » 2011

Bar of the United States Series “Aires” 40x60 + white margin, total 70x50 Epson Archival Matte 189g paper Two hands resting on a wooden table worn by time. The face remains invisible, leaving all space to the gesture, to the material, and to the light. In this photograph, Michel Serfaty invites us to look at what we no longer see: the traces of daily life, the marks left by the years, the silent presence of a being. The light caresses the hands and reveals the injuries of the wood. Two materials that seem to tell the same story, that of time passing. The image has a particular strength in its spareness. Nothing diverts the gaze from the essential.
