Michael Elkan - Jewellery box - handcrafted jewelry box /...

An absolute masterpiece of organic design! For sale is a beautiful, handcrafted artisanal casket made from noble root wood (likely Maple / Maple Burl). The design adheres to the unmistakable style of the renowned American woodworker Michael Elkan (Michael Elkan Studio), whose works from the 1980s and 1990s are world-famous for their organic design. The features: Fascinating contrast: The top of the lid is mirror-smoothly finished and perfectly showcases the wood's stunning, wild grain. Natural raw ruggedness (Live Edge): The side and front sections display the completely untouched, gnarly outer bark/growth form of the root wood. Invisible hinge/closure: The lid has been cut and fitted from the wood block so precisely that it follows the natural growth form to the millimeter. In the closed state, the casket appears as a single, massive piece of natural art. Versatile use: Perfect as an elegant jewelry casket, storage for business cards, small collectibles, or simply as a sculptural design object for lovers of Mid-Century Modern and Organic Modern design.
