Stunning Incuse "Facing Juarez" 5 Centavos from Oaxaca MEXICO. Oaxaca. 5 Centavos, 1915. NGC MS-63 Brown. KM-Unlisted; GB-300 (this coin plated). Seldom is any type example so RARE and elusive that its offering should be seen as a special event, by which one can either complete a series or not, however this "Facing Juarez" 5 Centavos should be seen these stark terms. While all of the other bust styles of Benito Juarez on the 5 Centavos series are more or less readily available, this type featuring an incuse and facing portraiture stands as amongst the most difficult to acquire types from the entirety of the Mexican series. We cannot trace any other example trading since this one sold in the Bothamley sale in 1976, essentially making this a once in a half century opportunity. The surfaces are pleasingly chocolate brown, with design elements being full, despite the doubtlessly difficult nature of producing an incuse design which likely led to so few examples being produced. A special coin that deserves the most exultant of places in an advanced collection of Mexican Revolutionary Coinage. Estimate: $15,000 - $30,000. Provenance: Ex: Merrill Bothamley Collection (Superior - 6/1976) Lot # 3410 @ $2300 hammer[!]. Ex: FCC Boyd Collection. Click here for certification details from NGC.

Estimate:$9,000
