GENERAL: This white Mercedes-Benz 220 S Cabriolet is an exclusive classic, of which only around 1,100 units were built in the production year 1957. The vehicle was delivered on April 26, 1957 to its first owner in Bad Godesberg, Germany. The classic car is privately owned, in good condition with some signs of use and shows absolute everyday usability, which is not a given for cars of this age. The odometer currently shows a mileage of 65,898 km. The car is drivable and can be reliably used for everyday use or excursions. The decisive advantage of this classic is not the appearance! It is the traceable identity. With this six-cylinder MB Ponton, a remarkably closed chain can be established from the documents: Daimler-Benz Delivery Note dated 26.04.1957 → Chassis 180030-7504326 → Engine 180924-7503923 → Body A180030-7500283 → current vehicle/type plates → US Title → Reimport → German registration. In addition, the delivery note documents the color combination white-gray DB 158 / red leather, which the car still carries today. BODYWORK & PAINT: The body and the paint of this white cabriolet are in a lovely condition thanks to a complete restoration carried out in the past. The high quality of this work is still evident today in the excellent gaps of doors, hood, and trunk. TECHNIQUE: Technically, the car is in top condition. The iconic six-cylinder engine is “Matching Numbers,” as proven by the original badges. After its reimport from the USA, the vehicle’s technicals were perfected in a German specialist workshop for Ponton vehicles in April 2021 and June 2023. There are receipts totaling 19,653 euros for this work. The engine runs smoothly and can be driven in traffic in second gear without clutch operation. The vehicle is registered with an H-license plate and the TÜV is valid until August 2025. INTERIOR: Although the exact interior equipment is not described in detail in the text, the interior matches the well-maintained overall condition of the car and invites you to enjoy classic open-top driving. DOCUMENTS: The vehicle has an interesting and rich history. There is a letter from March 1983 from DST GmbH to an owner in Saudi Arabia, including photo documentation showing the complete body restoration. The 1984 International Vehicle Registration for its transfer to the USA is also available, as well as the purchase documents from the import via a Dutch car dealer in 2020 and the technical report for obtaining the single-vehicle permit from 2021. In addition, some historical documents such as the original data sheet, original brochures, the operating manual, two very extensive workshop manuals, as well as special reference books and literature are included with the sale.
