The story follows two wanampi, a father and his son, as they travel together on initiation and ceremonial business. The father accompanies his son on what will be the most significant and powerful journey of his life, and their actions along the way give rise to the geographical and mythological landscape maintained to this day. Collaborative painting among Spinifex men is an act of shared authority. Each painter brings responsibility for particular places and stories, and the canvas becomes the ground on which those are brought into relation. As aspects of this knowledge are restricted, the painting reveals only what is appropriate for public viewing, and its power lies in that measure as much as in its scale. © Lawrence Pennington / Copyright Agency, 2026 | © Ned Grant / Copyright Agency, 2026 | © Roy Underwood / Copyright Agency, 2026 | © Simon Hogan / Copyright Agency, 2026
