Columbia Records label award for Men At Work 's debut album Business As Usual and its' singles . Released in April 1982, it brought huge global success to the Australia-based group. Singles "Down Under", "Who Can It Be Now?" and "Be Good Johnny" all became hits and the album spent 15 weeks at #1 in the U.S., also topping the chart in the U.K., Canada and Australia. This is a label award from Columbia Records presented to Mel Phillips, a radio programming exec who worked at stations in New York, Boston, Pittsburgh and elsewhere, to commemorate and thank him for his help in attaining multi-million sales and also to celebrate the success of the album's singles. It's likely the award was made in 1983 given the presentation plate lists that the album had gone quadruple Platinum by April 30, 1983 "and still going strong!" as the plaque states. In fact, by 1994 the album was certified 6x Multi-Platinum by the RIAA.* (Note that this is not a RIAA award). These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece. As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description. Finally, a word on photos: Our photos are zoomable so you can get a very good look. Do let us know if you want photos of any other details on our pieces and we'll be happy to provide. *RIAA sales data source: RIAA.com Columbia Records sales award for Men At Work's debut album to celebrate multi-millions in sales (Note: Not a RIAA award) Columbia Records sales award for Men At Work's debut album to celebrate multi-millions in sales (Note: Not a RIAA award) Award features unique album art-influenced design and metal presentation plate with Men At Work and Columbia Records logos Presented to radio industry executive Estimated to have been made in 1983 based on plate informatio In VG conditio All original, rebacked Award measures approx. 18" x 23" Great collector's item for any Men At Work fa FREE insured shipping to U.S. and Canada International shipping available
