Technically the sets are very similar to the PBA sets. The PBKA sets have safety systems for the German railway network and, unlike the PBA sets, are suitable to operate under 15kV 16.7 Hz overhead line voltage, allowing them to run on the Paris–Cologne route. Visually the two types differ in that the PBA sets have an old nose and the PBKA sets have a newer nose. PBA and PBKA trainsets can be coupled together. Photos are part of the description.
